A dream of mine, I polished it a little.
05:31pm 06/07/2009
Fear in our bellies we drove from the apartment with no destination but away. Two blocks of people packing belongings, dogs, families and photos into cars. Papers and money spilling on to the street. And we come to the Rangstorf crossing of the Caltran system. A bullet train system that serves as the main artery of public transportation between San Fransisco and San Jose. To our surprise the red lights pulsed as the gates go down.

Railroad crossing gates are automatic, and have their own emergency batteries, they also do not rely on electronic circuitry. As such they are designed to survive and function in most any emergency, even this one.

Sitting in a car in front of the railroad the mundane nature of the flashing lights juxtaposed the reddening skyline behind it.

Allison holds a struggling panicking Harley and stares wide eyed as the train roars by. We see no driver or passengers, just the silver engine gleaming in the thin yellow light of the fires behind us. A second of it passing and as if a switch has been flipped we see the back half of the train. It's been burnt and blasted, and fire and smoke belches out of its windows. The roar of the train is drowned by the roar of the train burning. Even inside the car we can feel the heat of the fire. In a flash it's past us leaving only drifting smoke and lifting gates.

The red flashing lights have halos around them as they as they pulse in the lingering smoke and finally go silent.

  No one speaks.

We still feel the heat on our faces and our minds spin, attempting to process the enormity of the boundary we have crossed. Like the train, our lives had a clear line of demarcation, and were divided into before, silver and gleaming, and after...

My foot eases off the brake and we roll across the tracks.

A friend of mine said, paraphrased: "The encouraging thing is that a lot of straight people who didn't know they were allies just assumed that it would get struck down. I mean it's just so obviously wrong. Then when they woke up on Nov. 5th and looked around they were shocked, horrified, and confused in the sad simple way that decent people get. And all the gay people went, 'welcome to the party, this is what we've been screaming about for our entire lives.'"

Change can come. I am encouraged by several things.

1) The iGeneration is waking up. And finding out we don't have to outlive the bigots anymore, we out number them. And we may have been distracted or confused this time. But we won't be next time.

2) We have a leader who has shown us any change is possible. We CAN change the minds and hearts of those around us.

3) Technology works. But facebook shows us people work better. We need to cut inroads into the minds and hearts of those who were not affected. Who took away from others because it didn't change their rights. Show them how connected we are, make it their lives that are effected, and show them how. I have yet to meet a bigot that survived finding out that friends and family disagreed with them.

Change can come.

Prop 8, you won this time. But the battle is far from over. See you in two years motherfucker.

Consider a world where society had determined that natural selection was necessary, but had been lost due to modern medicine. Not wanting to give up the security that was in place, society chooses a new form of selection. What would it be? and how would it be enforced?

A Harrowing tail most Fowl.
04:23pm 28/05/2008
Well done turkey bacon, when chewed, turns into a grainy delicious substance that is largely sharp corners and bacony flavour. It is also, very salty and dry.

So there I am on Saturday morning, merrily munching on a goodly mouthful of turkey bacon, when I go to swallow.
The grains hit the back of my throat, and I cough.
At this point, "grainy sharp bits" become something else, it becomes SHRAPNEL exploding hatefully into my sinuses. My eyes are bugging out and I spit the remaining bacon out onto my plate. My nose starts running and in pain and agony I blow it. Chunks of salted turkey bacon fly out into the napkin... bits of fowl flesh.

It's moment like this that really define you as a man. Weeping, I can no longer stay at the table and stumble my way to the bathroom, in some of the worst agony of my life.
In the bathroom, I am literally blowing chunks of bird out. Snorting water and trying something, anything, to get relief. If throwing up would have helped I would have in a second. But there is nothing. Time, water and blowing my nose.

A small fist, pounds on the door at what could barely be knee height. I walk to the door and open it walking out of the bathroom, I looked as death looks: pale and bloodshot eyes, nose running.

The mother clutching her children looked at me with fear in her eyes.
The children... had to pee, and cared naught for my plight.

Let this be a warning... beware the bacon.

It is a hate. from old times.

I was politely asked to go through and friend's lock or remove any reference to my sister *(beyond this one, of course) as some of the entries might be damaging *(I didn't think so, but I suppose it's not paranoid to think that people take things out of context and make big deals out of what seems like small things.) I have done so, and I also encourage anyone that feels I have unjustly represented them to come clean and let me know, so I can take down anything you don't want tied to your name, through my name. I have, for example, written some biting things when I was young and emo about girlfriends, that they may not want their mothers to read.

I saw once the two grooves left on a porch.
Two grooves one shorter then the other.
A rocking chair once had ridden the planks, back and forth. One rail broken, missing the tail end. But it still rode, back and forth and soon it had grooves of it's own. A rhythm and a life unique to three quarters of a rocking chair.

The chair is gone now but you can still see the grooves. Two lines, one shorter then the other.

I had the most fucked up dream last night.

I dreamed I was fighting the aborted fetus of a dark god.

It was a massive thing hulking on the horizon, its severed umbilical cord was sucking up the life of the world.

I came to the edge of the pool where it had come to rest. It was the size of a large lake. The thing was in the middle of it. The water was vile, a soupy mixture of bile and blood with nondescript pieces of flesh and tissue floating and oozing around in it.
There was a boat with paddles and I remember thinking:
"well it doesn't look that deep and the paddles might not work well with the tissue."
"so.." I said outloud
"row vrs wade."

An INTERNET game
01:01pm 27/08/2007
I played the most interesting boardgame this weekend

basically... you have a bunch of little nicknacks.

In that case regularly shaped pyramids. but I guess it could be anything.
one person creates a function.
and makes two constructions,
one where the function is true,
one where the function is false, and labels them.

Example: so say you had pyramids. you could say the function is true if the pyramid is standing up. So you lay one down, and stand one up. *(they weren't regular pyramids)

then in order the rest of the players create a construction, one at a time. then there is a phase where the people try to guess if the function will evaluate to true or not on the players construction.

everyone who guesses correctly gets a point.
after your construction is evaluated, you can spend points to make a guess at the function.

me: the "function" person then has to create a construction that would evaluate to true in his function, and evaluate to false in yours.

or he has lost and you have guessed the function.

it's a fascinating combination of "I'm thinking of a color" and boolean logic.

Wanna play?

Umberella = T
Blackened = F

Life in Cali.
09:45pm 12/08/2007
Not a lot to it, I go to work, I work with amazing people, I come home, I sit and youtube and talk to you people. and then I go to work again. I have a steady stream of visitors over the next couple of months and that is really cool. and I have developed a taste in music that is completely unavailable on amazon.com... which makes me cry... often... and hard. When more happens. Or when I think of more interesting ways of putting that which is happening. I will.

oh yeah... I got put on a Code Yellow project, which basically means I have been chained to a desk... which is cool and fine, it's short term and a cool as hell project so I'm hoping to make a difference.

I have recently, *(today) redescovered a love of poetry, but in this case, slam poetry. examples.

Goldbach Conjecture
01:57am 15/07/2007
is a Mathematical postulation that every even number greater then 2 is the sum of two prime numbers.

So let Z = even number greater then 2.
Let X and Y be two numbers less then 2 that when added together = Z.
We know that in the set of numbers less then Z, there exists Prime Numbers.
For every number X less then Z there is a Y that can be added to it to make a Z.
Let us limit the set of examinable numbers X to only be the set of prime numbers less then Z.
There exists now a Y that can be added to those X to make Z.

And damnit, that's when I woke up. But it had something to do with limiting the set of Y from all numbers *(the originol X) to be the new Set X which is only prime numbers, thereby making an X and a Y that are both proven to = Z and both be prime.

  Wow... so much stuff.

First, THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU all for the music, it was lifesaving. Sad, in some cases. But lifesaving. On that topic, you all have been holding out on me, there was some fantastic stuff in there that I had never heard before!

Second, I made it to Monteray and my uncle's house just in time to be carted off to Santa Cruz to visit and meet his new girlfriend. A very christian lady named Kathrine, to go with a very christian uncle... there is a theme here bare with me. So when I finally make it to my new apartment it's the fourth of july and I have to drive back down to santa cruz to spend the holiday with my uncle and his girlfriend and thier very christian friends.

Some time during the holiday, my uncle convinces me to go on a "camping trip with some of my friends from church and my son and his friends" well I havn't seen my cousin in a long while and with the buffer zone of some of his friends around it should be just fine... right.

well in typical fashion for this branch of the family, what was: "camping trip with some of my friends" was really "2007 Santa Cruz Christian Fellowship Men's Retreat" I spent a weekend fighting stomache problems brought on by uncomfortable conversations, and pregnaunt pauses. I think the most difficult was when the conversation of wives came up, and listening to these guys enumerate what was supposed to be a good wife... sigh... I swear they arn't looking for wives, they are looking for christian blow up dolls that cook and clean.

stuff comes wednesday, nikki and alex come thursday, work starts monday and crow turned his phone off... don't blame him. love you all, and miss you more then words.

So my new car has an awesome cd player sooo I have a plan, it requires a little work from all of you.

I'd like everyone to put together a CD with music custom made from each of you. It can be in mp3/wma/ or audio.

The reason for this is I have a 21-28 hour drive to get to mountain view and it'd be nice to have music from everyone to remmeber you by.
